Yamaha Motor India has officially launched the much-anticipated XSR155 in the Indian market at an introductory ex-showroom price of ₹1.49 lakh (Delhi). The neo-retro roadster marks the brand’s entry into the affordable modern-classic motorcycle segment, bringing the perfect blend of heritage-inspired design and proven 155 cc performance.

Unveiled during Yamaha’s 70th-anniversary celebration and part of its 2025-26 roadmap, the XSR155 arrives alongside new models like the FZ Rave and two upcoming electric scooters – reflecting the brand’s aggressive expansion plan in India. Yamaha aims to target young riders seeking a premium, stylish motorcycle that balances old-school looks with new-age technology.

The XSR155 draws heavy inspiration from Yamaha’s bigger XSR siblings such as the XSR700 and XSR900, maintaining the same minimalist retro identity. It sports a circular LED headlampteardrop-shaped fuel tank and a scrambler-style single-piece seat, offering a timeless silhouette combined with a muscular stance.

Riders will appreciate the high-set handlebar, upright riding posture and dual-purpose tyres that make it equally at home in the city or on light trails. The Deltabox frame, finished in exposed metal, showcases Yamaha’s engineering finesse, while the brushed-aluminium side panels and tail section add a premium touch.

The motorcycle features a fully-digital LCD instrument consoleLED tail-lamp and dual-channel ABS as standard. Yamaha has also equipped it with traction control and an assist & slipper clutch, enhancing safety and rideability for both beginners and experienced riders.

The XSR155 will be available in four distinct colour options – Metallic Grey, Greyish Green Metallic, Metallic Blue and Vivid Red – each highlighting its retro appeal in a modern finish.

Yamaha XSR155 Specs and Performance

Powering the XSR155 is Yamaha’s tried-and-tested 155 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-valve engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology – the same refined motor found in the R15 V4 and MT-15 V2.

This engine produces 18.4 PS of power and 14.2 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and assist & slipper clutch for smoother downshifts. The performance is linear, with excellent mid-range punch, making it ideal for daily commutes and spirited weekend rides alike.

The Deltabox frame ensures exceptional rigidity and cornering precision, supported by USD front forks and a link-type monoshock at the rear. Stopping power comes from disc brakes at both ends, aided by a dual-channel ABS setup for confidence under hard braking.

The motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in dual-purpose tyres, giving it both grip and versatility on rougher surfaces. With a kerb weight of 134 kgseat height of 810 mm and ground clearance of 175 mm, the XSR155 offers a comfortable and accessible experience for most riders.

Currently, it is offered in a single variant, sharing hardware with the R15 V4 while carrying a more relaxed riding geometry. Given Yamaha’s strategy, additional variants or limited-edition colour options may arrive later depending on market response.
