Yamaha MT 15 V2 Gets a Subtle Refresh — But Is It Really Worth It?

Alright, so Yamaha has done it again. Not a full-blown update, but just enough to make people like me (who already like the MT 15) stop scrolling and check the new colors. Yep, that’s pretty much the main thing this time — colors.

They’ve added Ice StormMetallic Cyan, and a funky Vivid Magenta. Honestly, the magenta feels a bit too loud, but hey — someone’s definitely going to rock it.

Now, if you were hoping for a power bump or some radical mechanical upgrades, well… no luck. It’s the same tried-and-tested 155cc engine — that VVA-equipped motor which we already know is punchy enough for city rides and the occasional open stretch. I’m not complaining though; it’s smooth, rev-happy, and doesn’t heat up like crazy in traffic.

Quick specs refresher:

  • 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled
  • 18.4 PS and 14.1 Nm
  • 6-speed gearbox
  • Slipper clutch (still makes me smile in traffic)
  • USD forks + aluminium swingarm
  • Dual-channel ABS

So, what’s new apart from the paint job?

Frankly… nothing. No new features, no updates to the console (which still doesn’t support full nav, btw), and no extra tech wizardry. But the build still feels solid, and those USD forks? They genuinely help with cornering and stability.

Yamaha MT 15 V2 2025 Price in India

Here’s where things get a little spicy. With the new colors and slight cosmetic tweaks, the price now starts around ₹1.69 lakh (ex-showroom). The deluxe color variants are inching close to ₹1.75 lakh. Feels a bit steep for just paint, doesn’t it?

Final thoughts (unfiltered):

I’ve always liked the MT 15 for being a sensible yet fun machine. It’s not overwhelming for beginners, and not boring for seasoned riders either. But Yamaha needs to step it up now. People want value. Paint isn’t enough.

Would I recommend it? Yes — but only if you don’t already own the previous MT 15 V2. If you do, just ride on and maybe wait for a real upgrade.
